Just before our Summer Concert I was handed the not very enviable task, by way of a letter, to find a replacement conductor and or pianist for the choir. Our Conductor and Pianist had decided after thirteen years to step down.

It has been no mean task. Bristol has so many choirs and some conductors for their part are taking more than two choirs in a week. Answers varied from sorry too busy, Wednesdays a popular night to maternity leave. People were contacted far and wide. Advertising was through everything you can think of. As time went on the choir were beginning to feel dejected until virtually at the twelfth hour someone made contact through our FaceBook page.

Unbelievably over 40 people had been contacted during seven months and there were still many more people who could have been approached, although the Privacy Act had made it difficult for unless a Conductor had their own web page there were no contact details available.

At last, Marysia Gorska-Saj has accepted to take the Cleeve Singers from January 2025. She was formerly conducting Avon & Somerset Police Choir and hope her efforts will increase our membership, yes we do need to recruit singers in all four voice parts. So please, if you have a love of singing, come and have two free rehearsals. There are no auditions.
